Let Your Favorite Prints Take Center Stage

Fussy cutting lets you choose the part of a print that appears in each hexie. Six hexies and coordinating pieced triangles form each medallion; four medallions come together to create the runner.

Try this playful red, green and ivory palette, or choose your own coordinated Christmas cottons. Keep the pattern’s fabric letters and contrasting placements consistent as you substitute prints.

Before You Begin

Some patchwork experience is recommended. This project involves accurate 60° cutting, fussy cutting, careful unit placement and consistent ¼″ seams. It is a project pattern, not a complete learn-to-quilt course.

Rulers: A 4-in-1 Hexie ruler is required for cutting the hexies and small triangles. For the setting triangles, choose either an 8″-finished 60° triangle ruler or the alternative method using a regular quilting ruler with a 60° line.

You will need your own fabrics, backing, batting, thread and sewing supplies. The PDF includes border and binding-strip preparation, but not full-size cutting templates or a detailed quilting and binding tutorial.
