  • Two-at-a-time half-square triangle construction with stitching, cutting and trimming diagrams, plus pressing guidance
  • Four quarter-block units that come together to reveal the complete star
  • Three numbered construction steps and nine additional coloring diagrams

🧵 One Quarter at a Time

Start with squares, sew the half-square triangle units, then trim and arrange them into four quarter-block units. Rotate and join the quarters to create the layered star design. The construction uses straight seams rather than curved piecing or appliqué.

A rewarding project for quilters comfortable with accurate cutting, scant ¼″ seams, pressing, trimming triangle units and matching points. This is a block assembly pattern, not a complete learn-to-quilt course.

📐 Choose Your Block Size

Finished block sizes: 6″ × 6″ or 12″ × 12″.
Unfinished block sizes: 6½″ × 6½″ or 12½″ × 12½″, including seam allowances.

Both sizes are included in the same PDF. The instructions end with the assembled block. A quilt, cushion or larger project needs a separate layout and finishing plan; backing, batting, borders, quilting and binding instructions are not included.

✂️ Make the Colorway Your Own

Try snowflake prints at the heart of your block, tiny winter branches for contrast and gingham accents for a fresh, cozy finish. The center is pieced from four separate F squares. Aligning a continuous snowflake motif across those seams requires careful fabric placement; the PDF does not include a fussy-cutting template or printable snowflake artwork.

Use the A–F cutting and placement diagrams to choose and arrange your own fabrics. Product images are AI-generated fabric-styling illustrations.
